Welcome to Your First Order with Eddie's Fin Farm! What to Expect From Checkout to Your Tank.
Thinking about placing your first order with us but not sure how the shipping process works? Or maybe you're wondering what to do once your new finned friend arrives? We are happy to go over our entire shipping process, plus provide a quick acclimation guide to ensure your first order is a complete success!
Here is everything you need to know:
1. Order Confirmation & Shipping Schedule
As soon as you place your order, you will receive a confirmation email with your order number. To ensure the safety of our livestock, we follow a strict shipping schedule to avoid packages getting stuck in transit over the weekend:
-
Orders placed Monday–Wednesday: Typically ship out the same day.
-
Orders placed after Wednesday at 3:00 PM: Will ship out the following Monday.
2. Final Health Inspection & Preparation
The health and safety of your fish is our absolute top priority. Before packing, every fish undergoes a final health inspection where we check for vibrant color, perfect swim balance, and overall activity. To ensure strict quality control, we reserve the right to hold back any fish showing signs of lethargy or poor health.
Additionally, fish are fasted at the end of the week to ensure they have a clean, successful, and low-stress transit.
3. Professional Packaging & Weather Care
We use high-quality cardboard boxes lined with foam insulation boards to maintain stable temperatures and prevent damage.
-
Weather Packs: Depending on the season, ice packs or heat packs may be included. Because these packs can drastically alter internal temperatures, we use our expert discretion on whether to include them.
-
Extreme Weather: If you are uncomfortable shipping during extreme weather in your area, please contact us immediately so we can reschedule your shipment for a safer date.
-
In Case of Delays: Our fish are packed with enough water and oxygen to safely last 3–5 days. While these conditions aren't ideal, the fish are safe. Please notify us immediately if you notice a courier delay.
4. Tracking Your Package
Once your fish passes inspection and is carefully boxed up, we print the shipping label. This automatically triggers a tracking email sent straight to you. If you do not receive your confirmation or tracking emails, please contact us so we can verify and update your contact information.
5. Our Alive on Arrival (AOA) Guarantee
We proudly stand behind our livestock with an Alive on Arrival Guarantee.
-
The 2-Hour Window: You have two hours from the recorded delivery time to contact us with any issues.
-
What to do: In the rare event of a Dead on Arrival (DOA), take a quick photo or video and email us directly.
-
Resolution: We will gladly replace the fish with another of equal value or issue store credit for the full value of the fish.
-
Please note: Shipping fees are non-refundable as this is a direct expense paid to FedEx, our primary carrier. For full details, please review our Shipping & Return Policy link below. https://eddiesfinfarm.com/policies/shipping-policy
6. Unboxing & Acclimation Guide
Because our fish undergo an extensive quarantine procedure before sale, your main goal upon arrival is simply letting them rest and recover from transit stress.
-
Step 1 (Float): Float the sealed bag in your prepared tank water for 15–20 minutes to equalize the temperature and prevent temperature shock.
-
Step 2 (Release): DO NOT DRIP ACCLIMATE. Opening the bag causes an immediate ammonia spike. If the fish look distressed or lack oxygen, skip the floating step entirely and place them directly into fresh, highly oxygenated tank water.
-
Step 3 (Rest): Keep the tank lights off and avoid introducing them to aggressive tank mates immediately. Do not feed them right away. Adding a light amount of aquarium salt to the tank will greatly help reduce their stress levels.
-
Step 4 (Settling In): After 24–48 hours, perform a partial water change to flush out excess ammonia and shed slime coats. By this time, your fish should be active and exploring! You can now begin small feedings or your desired preventative medication treatments.
Thank you for choosing us! We hope all of our fish find happy homes, and we wish you and your new goldfish a wonderful journey together.
